Tropical Depression Florence has impacted thousands on the east coast and continues to create damage as it makes its way inland. As it creeps slowly along its path and as the land becomes increasingly saturated, conditions are expected to worsen.
For those looking to help with damage and recovery efforts, supporting local community foundations is an effective use of relief dollars. Several community foundations in the affected areas have established relief funds:
Foundation for the Carolinas Hurricane Florence Response Fund
Donations to this fund will be directed to nonprofits in North and South Carolina providing relief to victims of the storm, and the dollars will be granted to areas in greatest need once the full impact is realized.
Central Carolina Community Foundation One SC Fund
This fund provides grants to nonprofits to fund relief, recovery and rebuilding assistance programs from state-declared emergencies in South Carolina.
North Carolina Community Foundation Disaster Relief Fund
Reactivated due to Hurricane Florence’s threat, dollars from this fund will go directly to nonprofits serving local individuals and communities in the areas impacted in North Carolina.
The Greater Kansas City Community Foundation can help donors grant from their donor-advised funds to organizations helping with disaster relief.
