Donor-advised funds serve as the perfect giving vehicle for individuals, families and companies alike who want to make a difference in their communities. At the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation, we’re honored to work with donors who use their charitable giving accounts to support the causes they care about most.
Community Foundation donors Claude and Tina Thau use their donor-advised fund to support a wide array of causes and organizations.
Claude has a strong passion for supporting individuals and organizations on an international level and has worked closely with the Community Foundation to use his donor-advised fund to facilitate microloans, small amounts of money typically given to entrepreneurs in developing countries. Claude and Tina usually support organizations dedicated to education but recently helped fund Big Sonia, a film that tells the story of Sonia Warshawski, a Holocaust survivor living in Kansas City. Claude also believes in helping others give back and frequently purchases Giving Cards to celebrate a job well done or to show his appreciation for others.
Pat Macdonald, Senior Philanthropic Advisor at the Community Foundation, recently sat down with Claude to discuss why he and his wife Tina are passionate about giving back.
